Efforts of Regeneration of Indian Society :

Reform movements - Nature of the movements; Raja Ram Mohan Roy and BrahmaSamaj, Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar, Derozio and young Bengal movement, Arya Sam. Prarthana Samaj, Theosophical society; Ramkrishna, Mission, Aligarh movement arc Sayyid Ahmed Khan.

Unit- II
Indian National Movement :

a. Indian National Movement Phase till 1919- Predecessors of Indian National Congr. Foundation of Indian National Congress; activities of the Congress: partition of Be. and Swadeshi movement; growth for revolutionary ideas & practices.

b. Indian National movement Second Phase 1919 - 47, - Emergence of M.K.Gandhi - ideas; Khilafat and non-co-operation movement; Civil disobedience movement; Quit 1-• movement role of INA an Naval revolt, partition and freedom.

Unit-III
Impact of Freedom Struggle in North East India 1857 - 1947, Revolt of Peasant Movements, Swadeshi & Boycott, Non-Cooperation, Civil disobedience r. Quit India Movement.
