PRC is a very important document its stands for Permanent Residential Certificate. It proves that you are the permanent resident of any place it might be in anywhere in India. It mostly required for admission in an educational institute. In availing facilities of the state government. I have created my PRC in the state of Assam. and it is almost similar for every state of India. So if you are facing any problem in making your very first prc then you can read this information. It doesn't matter from which sate you belong in India. The process is similar in all-state.
Main Issuing Authority Of PRC
Permanent Residential Certificate is Issued by the DC office in a district. Most of the official word is done in the DC office it the main functioning body of any district. And most of the issues of citizens in a district is handled by this department only.Application Form for PRC
Here if you want to make the prc then you have two ways one is online mode and other is offline mode.

In online mode, you submit the application for PRC in via a computer from your home itself. You no need to visit any office for that. And for that, you need and district account. Or can be submitted from your nearby CSC (Common Service Center).
In the offline mode, you have to visit the DC Office and Submit the Dully Filled application form in the DC office. and after that, all the process are quite similar.
For PRC you have to prepare two similar Application. With recent passport and Document attested. the one will be submitted in the DC Ofice and the other one have to provide in the thana for police verification.
So first you have to submit one application in the DC office. the DC official will register your application and get a seal of DC office. then you have to go in the dc office personal branch for getting an issuing number. after doing all that you have to go to the circle office for verification. And a repost from circle office.
Circle Office Verification
In circle office, you have to submit your document in the circle office. In the circle office, three officers will check your document and the last one is the main circle officer. The main thing among them is the report they will write in your document. they will check your original document So be there with all the original document. after your final check is over you have to keep it with you for later reference. this one has to submit in the dc office ofter your police verification is over.
Police Thana Verification
The Second copy that you have will be submitted in the police verification. in the police verification, they will check your document and checky our criminal record and will provide a report on that copy. after giving that report they will send you to the SP office for verification. there you have to prove the circle office copy. Along with all the original document.
Now you have to submit your circle copy in the dc office and they will provide you with the PRC immediately. and if they are busy then there may be a delay in the process. but no need to warry your PRC is almost ready.
SP (Superintendent of Police) Verification
after you released by the thana you will be sent to SP office for final verification. there officer will check your all the original document and verify your PRC copy. then digitally it will be forwarded to the DC office. here you PRC is almost ready.Now you have to submit your circle copy in the dc office and they will provide you with the PRC immediately. and if they are busy then there may be a delay in the process. but no need to warry your PRC is almost ready.
Document Required for PRC
- Two copies of passport size photos.
- Records of immovable property (if any). This must be supported by an updated receipt of land revenue.
- Copy of Indian passport.
- Certified copy of NRC 1951 (explained below).
- Certified copy of the voter's list.
- A PRC copy of any of the family members of the applicant (if any) stating the relationship with the applicant.
- Copy of the Birth Certificate of the applicant.
- Copy of HSLC Certificate/Admit Card.
- Employment Certificate of the applicant.
- Documents portraying that the parents and forefathers of the applicant have resided in the state for a minimum of 50 years.
- Documents portraying that the guardians of the applicant have continuously resided in Assam for at-least 20 years.
PRC Eligibility
- A person who has resided in the State of Assam along with his parents and forefathers for at-least 50 years or the parents and forefathers of the person has resided in the state for the same length of time.
- A person who has continuously resided in the state for at least 20 years.
- A person who is a child of any of the above-mentioned persons.
