Kohlrausch's low of independent migration
kohlrausch formulated the low of independent migration of ion based on the experimental data of conductivities of various electrolyte. this low can be stated as follows:
at infinite dilution, the dissociation of electrolytes is complete and hence each ion makes definite contribution to the equivelent conductivities of electrolytes irrespective of the nature of other ion associated with it.
therefore, the limiting molar conductivities of electrolyte is the algebric sum of limiting equvalent conductivities of its constituent ions.
however the the kholars low can also be stated in terms of molar conductivities as:
the limiting molar conductivities of an electrolyte is the sum of indivisual contributions of limiting molar conductivities of its constituent ions.
