First lets disciss about the linkage isomerism:
Linkage isomerism: the tendency of ambidentate lignads due to which they can be linked to the metal ion in two different ways gives rise to linkage isomerism in the complexes given by those ambidentate ligands. Ex: NO2 -ve ion is an ambidentate ligand and possesses two different donor atom viz. N and O. this ion can therefore, co-ordinte to the metal ion either thorugh N-atom or through O-atom. thus NO2 -ve ion gives two linkage isomers which are called nitri-N or nitro isomer and nitro-O or nitro isomer.
second what is chelating ligand?
Chelating ligand: All the doner atom of a polydentate ligand get cordinated with the same metal ion, we get a complex compound which contain one or more rings in its structure and hence its called a chelated(or cyclic) complex or chelate. the process of the formation of the chelated complex is called chelation or cyclisation. In simple words the complexes given by the polydentate ligand with the central metal ion are called chelate or chelated complexes. it is for this reason that the polydendate ligand are also called chelating ligand.
