1. (a) What is proposition? Distinguish between a sentence and a proposition. 2÷5=7

8. Test the following categorical syllogisms and name the fallacies involved, if any.: 5+5= 10
(a) Some snakes are not dangerous animals, but all snakes are reptiles, therefore, some dangerous animals arc not reptiles.
(b) Some diamonds are precious stones, some carbon compounds are not diamonds, therefore, some carbon compounds are not precious stones.
UNIT—V
9. (a) What do you mean by the opposition of proposition? What kind of opposition exists between A and 0 proposition in the traditional square of opposition? 2+1=3
(b) Discuss the traditional square of opposition. How does the traditional square of opposition differ from Boolean square of opposition? 5+2=7
10. Reduce the following syllogistic arguments into standard form categorical syllogism and determine their figures and moods, and test their validity by using Venn diagram technique:
(1+ 1i-1÷2)x2= 10
(a) Some neurotics are not parasites, but all criminals are parasites; it follows that some neurotics are not criminals.
(b) No musicians are astronauts; all musicians are baseball fans; consequently no astronauts are baseball fans.
